It's tough to get the initial snowball going, isn't it?
But once you get it going, you can add vast swaths of new snow to it's mass with relatively little effort.

We'll get to those things in a minute.
Right now I just want to talk about tracking.
Proper site tracking can double your profits even if you do nothing to improve your sales page.
STA provides the following kinds of tracking:
- Conversion tracking by EXACT KEYWORD
- Conversion tracking by referring domain (Note the exact google content pages.)
- Conversion tracking by ad code
These are adcodes that I attach to the destination urls of my ads. This allows me to get testing and tracking results on an ad by ad basis.
- Conversion tracking by time on page.
Time on page is an "outcome" that is available to be optimized by ad, by factor, by keyword, by domain, by adcode, and by hour of day. You'll see time on page reporting in most of the reports shown in other images.
- The exact path visitors take through your site.
- Conversion tracking for affiliate products, even when you don't control the thankyou page. (NOTE: this feature can be used to track PHONE conversions as well.)
- Conversion tracking by hour of day.
- Complete visitor by visitor information, including (ip address, referral string, user agent, referring domain, keywords, time on page, timestamp of initial visit, timestamps for each outcome being measured, visitor paths through your site, which version of your page they saw, etc.)
And, you can customize this report to show as much or as little information as you find useful. For instance, there are many pieces of information I could have included in the above report, but didn't. I only included the pieces of information I wanted to see in one glance.
- Ability to filter out "junk traffic" by ip address, domain, or user agent.
This is extremely important for testing. If you clean up and filter out junk traffic, you can finish tests twice as fast.
So what will Googlebot see? It will see your control page every time.
And here's what all this tracking allows you to do:
- By tracking visitor paths, you can see where visitors are being drawn away from your message to unprofitable regions of your site. You can plug these leaks and improve conversions right away.
- By tracking the exact keyword you can expand or contract your PPC ad groups, and improve your conversion rates that way.
- By tracking the referring domain, you can EXCLUDE non-converting sites from Google's content network. That will increase your profits.
- By tracking ad codes, you can see which advertisments -- banner ads, etc. -- convert, and which don't.
- Tracking conversion by hour of day can help you run your Google ads only during the times of day that yield the best results.
- STA also tells you "real time" when various spiders and bots hit your site. Find out right away when Googlebot finds those tasty little breadcrumbs you left for it to follow.
As you can see, tracking is very important.
Even if you were to only place STA's tracking code on your pages, you would increase your profits dramatically.
And placing tracking code is EASY. If you can cut and paste 3-4 lines (depending on what you want to track), you will start collecting gold mines of information about your visitors immediately.
